The Supply Chain Manager is responsible for planning, implementing and executing supply chain strategy and processes to ensure local objectives are aligned with group organisational goals. The Supply Chain function encompasses purchasing, supply planning, production planning, material handling and customer support activities.
This role reports to the UK Site Director and VP Global Supply Chain.
Duties and responsibilities:
Overseeing the end-to-end supply chain, from demand forecasting, to purchase order to inbound logistics, material handling and shipment to the end customer
Analysing material supply requirements and plant capacity data to maximise potential output and process efficiency
Conducting production and supply planning for the UK manufacturing operation, driving optimal efficiency of production processes while meeting customer demand
Acting as first point of contact for internal and external customers, communicating information clearly and promptly to maximise customer satisfaction
Engaging with regulatory authorities to ensure incoming and outgoing goods are compliant with customs and animal health standards
Controlling site inventory, ensuring sufficient stock of raw materials to maintain process trains while minimising waste inventory and risk of dead stock. Introducing new controls to minimise stock value and working capital
Generating sales and operations planning strategy for the site, monitoring monthly progress against defined objectives and revising resource plans as required
Supporting and participating in continuous improvement activities
Responsible for implementation and monitoring of KPI's in coordination with central Supply Chain
Monitoring vendor performance and raising issues and complaints directly with suppliers, following the internal vendor complaints procedure to ensure corrective and preventative actions are implemented and followed.
Developing production, material and purchasing forecasts and budgets and updating them periodically to reflect changes in business needs
Placing purchase orders with suppliers to replenish inventory in accordance with supply agreements established by the group procurement function
Providing supply chain and supply market insight and support to cross-functional project teams
Your Profile:
Essential:
At least five years experience in a manufacturing supply chain role, ideally with a purchasing, supply planning or logistics background
Strong working knowledge of supply chain management concepts including inventory management, materials management, global logistics and supply and demand forecasting
Passion for working in a fast paced, highly dynamic environment with an emphasis on agile business processes
Desirable:
Experience in chemical, pharmaceutical or food manufacturing industries
Previous management of a small team
Past history of working in a multi-site manufacturing network with matrix structure
Supply chain management qualifications such as CIPS or IOSCM would be advantageous
